Hi. I wandered into here from Blotanical because I saw the Hoosier bit in your name! I worked for the Boy Scouts of America in 1981 (yeah gods, THAT long ago now!)and worked on roving cub day camps all around Indiana. I had a wonderful time that summer and retain a great fondness for the area, so I just had to come and have a look!

I've enjoyed reading your posts and picked up some useful advice - which should be transferable to the UK. Thanks for doing a really interesting and informative blog :)

I'm enjoying my hyacinths indoors today, too. I tell people how easy it is to force hyacinths to bloom on vases and it is easy. Except for my sister who put the bulb in the vase upside down.

Hi, Kate -- it turns a dark tan, but yes, the flowers on 'Spirit' can be dried for everlastings or left on the plant for fall and winter interest.

From a 4" pot to a 24 inch shrub... that's pretty good. I've got some other pink flowering Hydrangeas that after 3+ years in the same spot don't get that big! Maybe it is time for a rip and replace?

Thanks for your post. However, I am a writer and do not have catalogs to mail out. I suggest you contact some of the seed catalogs directly. Go to Google.com and plug in heirloom seeds and you’ll see lots of catalogs and online retailers.
