At least 200 tons of sand have been delivered to the Garfield Park Arts Center, where it will be sculpted into a 100-ton pirate ship and five other pirate-themed creations.
Sculptors from The Sand Sculpture Company of Woodstock, Ill., will build the creations before our very eyes during a 28-day period, ending Aug. 16. There also are several sandboxes where children can dig for coins and other treasures.
