Win free tickets to Orchard in Bloom
Orchard in Bloom, an Indianapolis spring tradition, will be April 27 through 29, 2012 at Holliday Park.
The Hoosier Gardener has three pairs of tickets to be given away at a random drawing of readers who leave a comment below about Orchard in Bloom. If you have been before, share what you like. If you have never been, tell us why you would like to go. Each pair has a retail value of $20. The tickets were donated by Orchard in Bloom. Proceeds from the family friendly event support Orchard School and Holliday Park.
Jo Ellen Meyers Sharp will present Edible Landscapes each day as part of the Orchard in Bloom Symposium. Several other programs also are on the agenda, including Sara Snow’s Creating a Green Home, composting, backyard chickens, rain barrels and more.
Visitors will see beautiful landscapes created by some of the areas best landscape architects and designers. Other groups design mini-gardens that feature their favorite plants, such as hostas or native plants.
Vendors display collectibles, garden art and accessories, clothing and other merchandise. Not-for-profit groups will be on hand to distribut information about their activities.
Food and drinks are available at the show, which runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Your comments must be posted below by 6 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012. Comments posted on Facebook do not qualify. The drawing will be at 8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012. Winners will be contacted by e-mail for an address where tickets can be mailed.
I love Orchard in Bloom usually its a great introduction to all the pending spring bloom, this year it will be a reminder of what has already happened! Hope to make the Edible Landscapes presentation, would love to find more room for some edible plants in my sun-challenged yard.
Love, love, love the Orchard in Bloom. It has become an annual tradition for myself and my dear widowed neighbor. Thou I am somewhat younger, gardening is a passion and something we can share together. Even when funds are tight, viewing all the lovely gardens and talking with the vendors, learning and getting ideas is a true treat for us and an awesome way to spend a spring day… rain or shine! Everyone is so accommodating and friendly. We can’t wait!
Have never been to Orchard in Bloom, but have it on my calendar to go this year. I am looking forward to it!!!
My wife introduced me to Orchard in Bloom 6 years ago and we’ve been attending every year since. We make use of the FREE shuttle from the Church on Meridian St. There’s never been a year we didn’t bring home a carload of ‘pretties’ for our garden. We really appreciate the ease of having our purchases taken to the pickup area. We just take the shuttle back to the Church, jump in our car and drive to the pickup area. Our purchases are ready for us and off we go. GREAT FUN!!!
I went to Orchard in Bloom many years ago and enjoyed it. We are now re-doing our entire landscape so it’s time to go back for inspiration!
I have been able to attend the last few years abd thoroughly enjoy seeing the gardens, listening to the talks and looking at garden gadgets and plants–what a fun way to spend a day. I had Greg Adams who makes the willow tressels make me one that I enjoy so much!!
It would be nice to see the spring beauty in the gardens both in front of and behind my camera lense. I have never experienced the Orchard on Bloom before but have heard nothing but wonderful things about it.
I can’t believe I’ve lived in Indy for over 20 years and have never been to Orchard and Bloom! In the last 10 years, gardening has become very important to me, and I find myself stopping at nurseries and slowing down when I drive by attractive yards, just to take it all in. I think Orchard and Bloom would be a great way to enjoy some beautiful gardens without driving off the road!
I’ve never been to Orchard in Bloom but look forward to attending this year with another gardener hobbyist neighbor! I’m sure we’ll come home with lots of new plants to try at home.
Each year I get a new iris variety and some perennials. When they sprout the following year, I’m reminded it’s time to visit my favorite spring event. Everyone works so hard to make each year more memorable and fun for the entire family. Thank you!

I have lived in the area for 6 years and have never attended Orchard in Bloom. I have always wanted to go and something always gets in the way. We have it on the calander to attend this year. I can’t wait!
