One common issue facing our urban forests is the premature death of trees. Many are planted improperly, setting them up for failure. Many do not receive regular maintenance. And few are adequately protected during construction projects. To help remedy this issue, the U.S. Forest Service has created this Tree Owner’s Manual.
Just like the owner’s manual that comes with automobiles and appliances, the Tree Owner’s Manual includes a parts list, instructions for installation, tips for troubleshooting common issues, recommended service and more. It is designed for the Midwest and Northeast areas of the country.
Great for Indiana tree care, the manual is downloadable and searchable. It is a small, 40-page black-and-white booklet that would be inexpensive for individuals or organizations to reproduce so that it can be made widely available to garden centers, nurseries, landscapers and arborists to hand out to customers.
